Department of Product Design
This year’s showcase from the Product Design department celebrates the work of students in the BA Product Design and the BA Interaction Design.
The projects on show engage with a broad range of contemporary design challenges including health, sustainability, well-being and new working environments. These challenges are addressed in a wide variety of ways when approached through the lens of each of the disciplines within the department. Projects range from an airbag system for motorcycle helmets, to a platform for healthy discussions about sex, to an exploration of generative CAD and emotional design. Underpinning the work is a human-centered design process that seeks to develop a deep understanding of human behaviour. This process is central to the departmental ethos and informs the design of meaningful solutions that are grounded in real world needs.
The exhibiting students have been forged in the crucible of the pandemic, and have demonstrated great resilience and endeavour to produce projects of the highest quality. We are proud to present their work and look forward to the future impact that these students have as they move to the next stage in their careers.
