The issue of vicarious trauma rose to prevalence during the recent pandemic. In 2021 alone, 10,800 people were put onto the HSE mental health support waiting list. In the interim many turned to social media for support. However, what they found, in many cases, caused their psychological condition to deteriorate further. This, in part, could be attributed to the lack of trauma-informed functionalities on social media platforms.

'Sensus' is a digital service campaign which aims to highlight the effects of vicarious trauma on media platforms through the process of awareness, recognition and action to become more digitally trauma-informed. The campaign platform hosts information about 'Sensus’s' tools, educational content around the issues, and provides a space to collaborate and generate solutions to make social media platforms more trauma-informed.

What if we could? Make one small change.
Break the cycle.
