Ellen Owens is a multi-disciplinary visual artist. Her work explores how we can communicate using the medium of design. Her personal research project is focused on exploratory spaces. Following the unprecedented shift in our reality as a collective due to the global pandemic, as a graphic design student she has become aware of the dominance of visual and digital work in both the art world and in everyday spaces. This shift has pulled her work into an increasingly physical space.

Recently, she has worked with a special focus on narrative environments, and social design, transforming spaces and creating memorable experiences, rich with colour and atmosphere – enjoyed by other artists and spectators alike. Her playful and larger-than-life approach to design blurs the lines between the serious and the curious. She can be most recognised for focus on the physical, her interest in cultural ecosystems and her bold use of colour.

This book is a group of selected texts concerning the topics of attention, space and the senses, as part of my personal research project, which is focused on exploratory spaces. Within this project and through these selected texts I research how design and environments can make us feel, and the steps we can take in our life to be more present in an increasingly digitalized world.
