'Plugged in' began as a deep-dive into my childhood fondness for science fiction media such as 'The Matrix', 'Star Wars' and 'Blade Runner', and also a fascination with the future.
When looking to the future we naturally think of either a utopian future or a dystopian future. Using these two themes my collection was made for a unisex consumer, designed for luxury athleisure/utility wear.
Through colour and design these two themes clashed, by having reversible fabrics the consumer can swap between them based on the environment the wearer is in. This emulates the idea of The Cyborg, that our clothing will become technological rather than our body parts. To continue with the futuristic feeling of this project, specialist inks were used such as: UV sensitive inks as well as reflectives. This was done to allow further change in the fabrics depending on the wearer's environment.
