The focus of my womenswear collection is a return to a local frame of reference, inspired by the Irish experience of the 1990 FIFA World Cup, 'Italia 90'.

This era so vividly captures the universalism of community spirit and passion for where you are from – which I feel is lost in today’s fast fashion industry, where buyers often have no personal connection with their purchases.

In a digital age, nostalgia connects us to something real, something before. People connect with nostalgic, retro garments, seen nowadays in the rise of vintage sportswear on the highstreet. My collection began with deconstructing these sportswear garments and reconstructing them, adding luxurious, feminine elements (silk and ruching). I have combined screen-printed imagery from this era with sportswear elements (elastic and stretch fabrics) to create a fun, modern and energetic womenswear collection that steers clear of the traditional antiquated view of Irish style.
