This exploration is influenced by the circumstances of the pandemic and dementia and my mother's hospitalisation during it. The mobile phone and snatched photographs 'through the pane' were all we had, as we huddled outside her various windows.
Reflections, distorted architecture, merged portraits, local landscapes fell onto the same glass pane.

Drawing helped me explore these combinations of shapes and revealed my own experience of the situation, separating out some of the layers, both personal and visual.

Teasing out the images showed the combination of landscape and portrait as a single image which seemed so relevant in her love for trees, flowers and the outdoors.
Subtracting layers of graphite allowed the reflections to sit in layers of their own.

Tracing images to acetates and continuing the layering process was fascinating and seemed to map our time during the pandemic.
