This body of work is concerned with exploring existential themes - identity and belonging.
‘Roots’ here is taken to mean, an area of empirical observation: a point of origin for a world hypothesis; the basic cause or source of something or someone. Investigating significant memories, places, and sentimental objects – facilitated improved understanding of how the individual parts (of one’s life journey) can broadly shape the whole. Yet they cannot paint the full picture. For our trajectories are not predetermined. Life is a process whereby we psychologically metamorphose. Therein lies hope!

Communicating feelings, moods, or relatable yet fleeting moments subsumed all else. More, these pieces become a cathartic release while also expressing evocative emotions. Opposing concepts –belonging and isolation – are compelling and proved fruitful for investigation. Life is our individual experiential journey; searching; reconstructing our identities as we flourish and live in the world; individually unique yet wholly universal.
