My project focuses on how illustration can promote a positive exploration of sapphic sexual expression. Sapphic is an adjective for a female-aligned person who experiences attraction towards female-aligned people, as I wanted this work to be inclusive.
Considering my own experiences and those of my friends, I wanted to create works that would contradict the often pornified and misogynistic views of sapphic sexualities. I wanted to explore what 'sexual expression' meant in multiple ways – whether that be in the bedroom when creating an environment that acknowledges one’s sexual identity, or what affects a person’s ability to express that identity in the first place.
