‘Edifice Unbound’ (2022) is a video piece that explores tangible realities of how infrastructures of late capitalism produce social conditions that are driven by economic forces of commodification and circulation. Through interrogating the co-opting of edifices that make up public space and link us to the digital sphere, the piece questions the boundaries of access and social hierarchies that infrastructures are able to define. It takes a focus on the trajectory of shifts in governance that are influenced by commercial and corporate intentions.
The work contains documentary footage of public space, all of which was filmed by the artist using her iPhone. It also incorporates 3D components, spoken word, found audio and AI-generated footage that was produced through an image and text based deep machine learning process.
