Is fan art as important as “real” art?
Fan art can come in many different styles and mediums from traditional portrait drawings and illustrations to digitally photoshopped works of art. Made by wonderfully talented individuals, it is a medium of expression as varied and creative as “original” art.
In my digital animations drawing on the visuals of fan art, my main goal has been to make others happy. My research has set out to understand various topics such as fandom in music and anime. And I am a fan too, loving both music and anime personally.
Music and anime have had a huge impact on culture with anime fans dressing up in cosplay and buying merchandise. The work has been a way for me to understand how art is seen through culture and to have the opportunity to create fan art for the band ‘Ultitune’.
