'Dream in Colour: To have bold, often unrealistic ambitions'. This collection was driven by visual research into derelict buildings in Dublin. I became fascinated by the disappearing shop fronts and their family names in a city that was becoming increasingly sterilised and impersonal. I mourn a Dublin for which I have no memory. Images of the city are combined with photographic images from my childhood. They are distorted, faded and inverted through a range of techniques such as experimental embroidery and digital print used on a variety of fabrics. These creations evoke a utopian world of my own imagination and interaction with the city around me. As an artist and designer I hope this project can incite change or reflection on the developments of Dublin city.
