'Undone' is a womenswear collection that is personal to me as it reflects on my own, and other women’s experiences of sexism and misogyny. The collection intends to celebrate women’s sexuality as well as question the socially constructed concepts of purity and virginity.

I was originally inspired by Elizabethan clothing and corsetry, which led me to research Queen Elizabeth I’s portrayal as the ‘Virgin Queen’, as well as the misogyny apparent in Shakespeare’s love sonnets, which compared women’s bodies to hell and viewed them as temptresses. Women’s lingerie through history influenced details and silhouettes that highlight the female form and gives the clothes a strong and structured look intended to make the wearer feel confident and powerful.

Through researching for this collection I have deepened my understanding of what feminism means to me, as well as finding it cathartic in many ways. I hope my designs can be a talking point around these topics.
