My work has set out as a personal journey in how to deal with the weight of grief along with the guilt of grieving and the fragility of life. The loss of a child, my Great Niece, led me to question the path of life, the expected journey of life and those cataclysmic events which interrupt it, and how we can protect those who are vulnerable.

My work is influenced by the creation of memory and how this is an energy, which becomes tangible, but cannot be contained. It depicts the use of carbon moving through forms trying to capture the minerals of what we as human and stars are made from. The metaphors of the protectors and creators of life can be found in mermaid's purses representing the geographical divide between my family and I.
