For this project, I decided to investigate my surroundings and explore the word “boundaries”, which is the central theme of my work. Artist, Julie Mehretu; Irish Sculptor, Brian King – in particular, his piece 'Soft Earth'; Visual Artist, Dorothy Smith, and Won Ju Liu have inspired me to create my own atmospheric imagery. The NCAD library has helped greatly in providing me with contextual visual research.
My work is made using a number of different processes. Drawing on top of images, Photo transfer using my own photographs, acetone and scotch tape. I also like to experiment with Lino print, Indian Ink, charcoal, pen, pencil, Conte a Paris, tracing paper and carbon paper. Silver pen on black paper creates my night time imagery. My work is an ongoing journey of exploration and I’m enjoying the process.
