My practice is a constant search for the best way to interpret my ideas and to actualise those ideas and concepts without limiting myself. Inspiration and ideas evolve and change as I practice.
Each piece I create is simultaneously an extension of the previous, previewing the future for the next work. Many traditional research methods can be seen in my work, drawing, cutting, photography, collage and assemblage, but none without imagining.
My intention is that my paintings find a way to say sometimes difficult things in a clear and artistic way. By sampling and material testing with abstract shapes and the figure, a critical engagement with a technique of gridding and line construction evolves. This gestural language in thinking and making shows hints of itself right through my work from process to resolution. My wish is that one stops for just a moment to view and reflect on a piece I have created.
