My work is inspired by sensory sensitivity and focuses on the sense of touch. It is a collection of simple forms designed to provide a spectrum of haptic experiences.
The materials used are clay, slips, glazes, cotton threads, ink and watercolour paper. The process of making, was a beautiful tactile experience which included pottery throwing, slip casting and glazing.
The viewer is invited to see with their hands by touching the textured spheres and dipping into the contents of the jars.
In the words of Margaret Atwood: “Touch comes before sight, before speech. It is the first language and the last, and it always tells the truth.”
