My work as an artist is typically reflective of a passion for education along with an appreciation for the natural environment. My artist and teacher identity often interact and inform each other in this way. 'The Change Lab', where we explored development education in relation to Goal 14 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 'Life below water', allowed me to push the boundaries between exploring my artist, teacher and researcher identity.
Throughout my teaching practice I aimed to provide many learning opportunities to my students in linking the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to my Units of Learning (UoL). My own art practice has explored environmental concerns which is reflected in the work created for 'The Change Lab'. In a similar way, I often anchor my UoLs on the SDGs and on my own art practice in providing meaningful and thought provoking experiences for my students. I believe that this is vital in making the learning enjoyable and purposeful.
