My artwork reflects my interest in nature and culture where ideas usually present themselves rather than looking. Ordinary things like seaweed on a seashore, broken brickwork on a wall, or urban street signage can be sources of inspiration. The concept of ‘making’ weaves its way as a common thread throughout my work. Knitting and embroidery have captured my heart and I am at my happiest surrounded by hand looms and yarn.

I love to hand dye recycled textiles and create colour palettes to interlace with techniques and processes learned. I play around with contrasts in textures, colours and patterns where sometimes they magically align themselves as new narratives.

In my current artwork, I connect with the cultural narrative of ‘making’ in the Liberties. This rich history in textile manufacturing woven into the very fabric of the community is my inspiration for the piece ‘Made in the Liberties’.
