Kate's work is focused on the domestic, from exploring the magical moments of peace in the maelstrom of life as a parent, to the shadows of alcoholism and domestic violence, lurking under imperfect surfaces.
Her work centres on the deterioration of relationships, violence hidden behind bright veneers and the numbers of women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse every day.
Everyday domestic objects are corrupted with shards of broken wine bottle, battered and broken or incompletely reassembled, barely held together.
Film, sculpture and photography are all key components in illustrating the feelings of tension, danger, damage, anger and erasure.
