People must experience and process pain to facilitate growth.

This work visualises the catharsis in succumbing to and expressing pain, and the conflict experienced in the effort to allow oneself to do so.

Paint is used carefully and consciously in the case of creating images of the mouth, a part of the body representative of primal expression, vulnerability, and freedom. In contrast to this application, text is painted with energy and impulse directly onto the walls. Rope, strings and counterweights are used to bind and apply pressure, create tension and push materials to their physical limits. Canvas is stretched not only at the mercy of rope and string, but also at that of the space that it exists in.

Control and submission are juxtaposed.
