Completing an MFA in Art in the Contemporary World at NCAD in 2022, I continue to explore the fold as an emergent site of transformation based on material-led research and the writing of Levi Bryant. Introducing complex origami surfaces and ideas of ‘non-knowledge’ that must be experienced directly allows me to go beyond thought and communicate directly through sculpture. Seeing the fold as an endlessly connecting structure between different fields, this trans-disciplinary approach offers collaborative possibilities in a growing range of fields that include sculpture, architecture, robotics, dance, skateboard performance, and sound composition. Co-authoring a number of papers on the subject, origami surfaces continue to inspire me on a range of visual, scientific, and philosophical levels.
