Graduate Helen McLoughlin will be joined by Bill Harris who will lead people around the installation. They will then be brought out of the Department space and on to Thomas Street where they will enter the NCAD Field to view the structure in the Field.

Located in an urban field, ‘Hush’ is a small structure made of hempcrete, a quiet solo escape from technology and the clamour of the surrounding streets. To crouch inside is to experience a hush in the city. Built in 2022, the timeline is now rolling forward by 500 years to the year 2622; speculating how sustainable materials might be used in the future. In the exhibition, a student historian will discuss objects related to the ‘Hush’ and then accompany visitors to the nearby field to experience the ‘Hush’ for themselves. McLoughlin’s environmental and speculative practice is concerned with the protection and sustainability of the natural environment.
